A Tsechu (meaning "10th day") is a religious festival honoring Guru Rinpoche, the Buddhist saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. During a Tsechu, monks and laymen perform elaborately costumed cham mask dances over three to five days. Each dance has a specific spiritual meaning — they are sacred teaching tools, not performances. Most Tsechus also include the unfurling of a giant Thongdrol thangka believed to bestow blessings on all who see it.

All Bhutan tours require payment of the government's Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) — currently USD $100 per person per night — in addition to your tour package cost. Our all-inclusive bhutan festival tour packages start from $2,450 per person for a 7-night trip. This covers accommodation, meals, guide, transport, visa, SDF, and all permit fees. International flights are extra.

Book 4–6 months before your travel date. Festival seasons — especially Paro Tsechu (March–April) and Thimphu Tsechu (September–October) — are Bhutan's most popular travel periods. Hotels and guides in premium locations book out months in advance. We hold priority hotel allocations for our clients, but early booking is always recommended.

Absolutely. We accommodate solo travelers on all our festival tours, either on a private basis or joining a small group (maximum 8 people). Many of our solo guests say the group dynamic at festivals actually adds to the experience — sharing the moment with fellow travelers deepens it.

Yes. All international visitors to Bhutan (except Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals) require a Bhutan visa. We handle the entire visa application process on your behalf — you simply provide your passport details and we do the rest. Visa approval typically takes 3–5 business days.

Bhutan consistently ranks among the safest countries in Asia for all travelers, including solo women. Crime rates are extremely low, Bhutanese people are famously warm and respectful, and our local female guides are available on request. Festival environments are family-oriented and welcoming.

Dress modestly and respectfully — covered shoulders and knees are expected at all dzong festivals. Many travelers choose to purchase or rent traditional Bhutanese dress (Gho for men, Kira for women) — locals love it and you blend in beautifully.
